Band Biography
Memphis, Tennessee is the
home of metal group Saliva.
The quintet comprising
of Josey Scott (vocals), Chris
Dibaldo (guitar), Wayne Swinny
(guitar), Dave Novotny (bass)
and Paul Crosby (drums) originally
formed in September 1996.
Success was seemingly quick
as in 1997, just one year
after their creation, the
band was a finalist in the
Grammy Showcase sponsored
by the National Academy of
Recording Arts and Sciences.
Despite quickly arriving at
critical acclaim, the band
took its time in choosing
a label. They wanted
to garner a large fan base
before attempting to go national
with their act. The
released their self-titled
debut on the independent Rocking
Chair Records. Saliva
then appeared on the Dracula
2000 soundtrack with the song
"Your Disease".
Finally, the group signed
with Island Records and released
their sophomore album Every
Six Seconds in 2001. More
success was soon to follow
later in the year as Scott
teamed up with Nickleback's
Chad Kroeger to record "Hero"
for the Superman soundtrack.
The song was an international
sensation.
In 2002, Saliva released their
third album, Back Into Your
System. Saliva has
seen a large amount of radio
airplay for singles off of
this album. Scott believes
that this effort is a evocative
of a more mature Saliva, "Every
Six Seconds was wide-eyed
and ambitious; we were brand
new to the game... we were
sort of getting our feet wet.
This record has the same ambition,
but at another level -- it
is just good songwriting,
it's a good listen, from beginning
to end."
