Battlecup began in 2011 as a project to create groove-oriented, pop-sensible, improv-friendly music. After experimenting with the warm subtlety of a two-bass-bottom, they created a friendly low end to build upward. Drawing on influences ranging from rock, pop, jazz, bluegrass, funk, blues (the list goes on) Battlecup began to shape a sound that has been described as a rock 'n' roll outfit with a jive strut.
