This dynamic quartet represents a broad age, cultural, and musical demographic. From their early performances, Dirty Blind has been recognized for maintaining their homage to the bona fide rock/pop vibe of the 60s and 70s while projecting a notable evolution into a modern sounding band with a stadium rock presence!
Originally formed by Pete Jacobs and Dorsey 'Sky' Parker in the humble town of Stamford, NY, Dirty Blind is now co-based out of Boston and New York City with Andre Vasconcelos and Apoena Frota joining the ranks. During the band's formation in the summer of 2010, Pete and Dorsey, then called, 'Pete Jacobs' Band,' self-recorded and co-produced the EP, 'Thoughts Upon A Window,' at 'The Poolhouse' in Stamford, with the hopes that the authentic creative chemistry between the duo would spark an interest in those longing for the tangibility of real musicians writing and performing their own music.
In a market overrun with a fixation on digital production of sound, auto-tune, and pop-perfection, the goal was clear. 'We wanted to recreate the beauty of having the human 'touch' on our music - perfect in its imperfection and honest to the core.' - Pete
Not long after the release of Thoughts Upon A Window, Pete began collaborating with then Nature In The City guitarist, Andre Vasconcelos, whom Pete met while attending Berklee College of music in Boston. The two quickly formed a close creative bond and friendship.
Andre then introduced Pete to fellow Berklee student, already accomplished guitarist, and singer/songwriter, Apoena Frota, who joined the band as the bass player. Little time passed before the four members were brought together to discover a collaborative motivation and creative energy that can only be described as 'electric.' Eventually the name 'Dirty Blind' was chosen, and the band began work on their debut album, 'Clockwise.'
Currently, Dirty Blind is making the rounds at venues in New York City and Boston with the goal of bringing the party back to Rock and Roll! |
