Hailing from Toms River, New Jersey, these boys and girls new EP Tent City is charged with sharp riffs and biting social commentary. Tent City is also the name of a large local camp in Lakewood, NJ where the surrounding homeless communities have congregated. The band drew inspiration for the song from this, citing it as an
example of the complete abolishment of social and moral status.
Elevator Art is a heavy fixture in the NJ tri-state music scene, rocking local haunts as well as opening for such iconic acts such as Jefferson Starship, John Herrington of Steely Dan and Syurgis Nikides of The Velvet Underground. Their signature soaring vocals and stomping riffs join megaphones, party horns, and flute during an average performance.
This six member outfit's urgent and energetic synergy personifies the psychedelic 60's and progressive 70's, effortlessly distilling raw, electrified pop/rock. This is a modern group reminiscent of the great multi-tasking, multi-gender bands of the past, such as Jethro Tull and Fleetwood Mac. A rock and roll juggernaut with a sound both original and surprisingly unified, being that there is no identified leader.
Wielding a free spirited vibe and a timeless sound, Elevator Art has created an EP that will have even the most committed wallflowers tapping their toes. Their ability to clearly express intense and personal viewpoints is icing on the cake. A healthy questioning of reaity is ever present.
