Dylan Taylor is a songwriter, performer, and guitarist from Atlanta, GA. Dylan performs her original songs that are packed with creative edgy lyrics and stories combined with her energetic rock, pop, and folk musical blends. Along with selections from Dylan’s debut album, concert goers will get a chance to hear incredible new songs soon to be released on her second solo album. Dylan’s music is known for its country, pop, rock, and folk musical blend, combined with captivating lyrics and stories. We call it ‘Swanky Cool’ Her influences created her love and desire for writing and performing. Influences cross a wide range of artists from James Taylor, John Prine, Steve Earl and The Beatles, to Michael Jackson, Patty Griffin, David Bowie and Gillian Welch.
‘Under the Table’ & ‘Picture On My Wall’, self penned songs were recently featured on the Showtime series, ‘The Real L Word’.
Dylan tours performing with her complete band and also solo vocal and acoustic. She is known for her powerful acoustic shows and her unique voice and distinctive guitar abilities. Dylan has been compared to Shawn Colvin, Lucinda Williams, Bonnie Tyler, The Pistol Annie's and Sheryl Crow. Though fans agree her style is unmistakably all her own.
Dylan Taylor’s debut release is comprised of 8 tracks of her self-penned songs taking the listener on a journey of an observer and participant of everyday life situations. Each song is unique in its storyline and showcases Dylan’s excellent song writing talents and performances. ‘Under The Table’ - an emotional description of two people in love but having to hide their feelings publicly due to social blindness of the people in the world around them; ‘I Like That’ - an up-tempo rocker describing her positive attraction to her ‘bad boy’ type boyfriend; ‘Picture On My Wall’ – an extremely well crafted and powerful selection in which a woman is talking to her husband who is a soldier away at war and she is reminded daily by his picture. ‘What Was I Thinking’, co-written with master keyboardist Jimmy Wallace (Kenny Wayne Shepherd; Gavin DeGraw) is an upbeat music piece lyrically describing her bewilderment at falling for the wrong guy.
‘Bumble Bee’ – Dylan’s fond description of the magic of bumble bees and how she wishes to be one of them. Talking in first person to a bumble bee, this piece was inspired when Dylan read an article that scientists to this day don’t know how bees are able to fly due to the proportion of their body and wing sizes; ‘Good At Lovin’ You’ – When her lover expresses his desire to stay together forever, the singer tells him the habits she is good at but that she is unsure if ‘I can be good a lovin’ you’. ‘Thief of The Night’ – a haunting musical piece that tells of the weakness of being under the spell of a careless but calculating heart breaker; ‘Lie To Me’ – this hidden acoustic track at the end of the disc tells of losing someone but there is a hurtful and dark reason they left. She would rather be told a normal goodbye line that may be a lie as opposed to knowing the real reason.
