Tony Lucca- Vocals, Guitar
Third place winner on Season 2 of NBC's The Voice
Tony Lucca was recently featured on NBC's The Voice and took 3rd place on the reality competition. He was seen first on the premiere epiosode immediately following the Super Bowl. “All for the pure intoxication,” in a generation searching for the next great emotional high comes singer songwriter Tony Lucca. A Gen X-er himself, Lucca shows influences of the great singer songwriters of the past in his music. “I think that when what you
aspire to do is of a timeless, classic nature, it will inevitably outlast the trends and the uncertainty of whatever business you’re in. People will always want to hear good songs.” And with that said we are drawn into the world of Tony Lucca. A place where he can
weave words together in such a way that they paint pictures and emotions that bewitch longtime fans and quiet the bar regulars alike.
A veteran of the star-churning Mickey Mouse Club, Tony grew up in Waterford, Michigan surrounded by a large musical family. At the age of 3 he began singing and
playing guitar and by the time he was 12 he had begun writing and playing in various local Detroit area bands. Growing up on a diet of family gatherings that turned into extended jam sessions Lucca’s path was set. Following his stint on the MMC he moved to LA where he appeared in numerous independent movies and the short-lived series Malibu Shores. But remaining true to his personal vision, Tony returned to music, shunning the 90's pop scene and searching for deeper more personal music with an honesty not often found today.
Lucca’s first album, So Satisfied, was released via his web site tonylucca.com selling thousands of copies with only internet and show sales. His subsequent releases: 1999's Strong Words, Softly Spoken, 2000’s So Far, 2002’s Simply Six, led him to upwards of 10,000 records sold and garnered him a large fan base with a street team of over 1,000. After headlining sold out gigs from LA to NYC, Lucca released his first commercially distributed album in 2004 Shotgun, a canvas of songs meant to ride along to on a road trip. With lyrics that paint a picture of a September turnpike or a lover’s quarrel and melodies that roll with the tires or remind you of that city on the
coast you long to return to, Shotgun is a ride that feels right no matter the mood.
Currently Tony is writing and recording material for his upcoming album. In an industry that is quick to disenchant its insiders Lucca shows us his inner thoughts in the new tune Around the Bend as he tells us to “carry on for that next dream just around the bend/and listen for the next song I can call my friend.” And in the track “Feels Like Love” we are presented with a picture of love that every listener can identify as he asks “Does it feel like love?” Based on his fans enthusiasm, their loyalty, anticipation of new material and their continued attendance at residencies and sold out shows coast-to-coast, yes, “you know it feels like love.” |
