Zebidy - Lead Singer
Zebidy is a lead singer and guitar player. She has a band called Drop Tank and is originally from Sydney, Australia. Zebidy pieced Drop Tank together in 2008 in the warehouse district of Marrickville. The warehouse's noise zoning code provided a productive space as it could double as a rock band friendly zone, and a living space.
Zebidy fuses technical guitar playing and fun ballsy guitar riffs with a Mariah Carey meets Phil Anselmo vocal style.
Described as 'real balls out rock and roll' and 'a refreshing change' in the Drum Media, Drop tank have been likened to the Motorhead/1970’s school of rock, but with contemporary themes and melodies, and a twist of pop, incorporating talented riff playing, real solos, and double kick. Warehouse living has probably had just as large an influence on the music as inspirational bands.
Zebidy hand picking her line up in 2008, Drop Tank have won a band comp, played at the largest underground Channel party in Sydney (21 stages), played at Metalstock and the Sydney Fringe Festival and have won fans at house parties to large venues such as the Gaelic Club, Annandale Hotel and Oxford Arts Factory being remembered for their high energy live acts.
The high energy songs, are 'born out of instrumental jams in the mad, delapidated world of the crumbling building we inhabit. We try to just let songs happen organically without trying to second guess how they're 'supposed to sound' says Zebidy, the songwriter. 'I think this keeps them sounding more connected to the initial frantic energy that spawns them when we get in the rehearsal room.'
