From Kingston, Jamaica via the streets of South-Central Los Angeles, California come the 21st Century Roots Warriors – JAHVA.
The group – consisting of lead vocalist/songwriter Terence ‘Gad’ Forsythe, drummer Demetrius ‘Drummie’ Morrow and guitarist Henry Morrow – grew out of a high school friendship between the American Morrow brothers and the Jamaican Forsythe.
Throughout the years, from their debut single ‘Good Samaritan’, to their current project, JAHVA has always maintained a consistent professionalism in their recordings and performances and have developed a distinct musical sound, anchored by great songs.
Combining the reggae influences of acts such as Aswad, Steel Pulse, Black Uhuru and Bob Marley, along with American influences such as Parliament/Funkadelic and Jimi Hendrix, JAHVA has emerged with its own unique mix. The group describes its sound as progressive 21st Century Roots Reggae with songs covering conscious issues such as life, love and the social plight of the poor and underprivileged.
JAHVA has performed with artists such as Third World, U Roy, Sugar Minott, and Frankie Paul, among others, and has toured with acts such as the late Mikey Dread, and Earl 16. The group released their debut album, ‘JAHVA’ in 2003, which received favorable reviews in the music press and also had a well received West Coast U.S. tour that year. The subsequent years have found JAHVA concentrating their energies on recording and further developing their sound.
Now, with the release of their new single and video - ‘Hot Night’ - from their new album ‘Armagedeon’, and with a planned U.S. and European Tour in the works, JAHVA is on the move and ready for the world. |
