Melodic, melancholic and comic, there are nods to Belle and Sebastian in the lo-fi arrangement and confident simplicity of this well-crafted tune.
Michael Rattray is a composer, singer and artist based in Perth in Scotland. He is currently about to release his album 'Human life' on Dec 2nd. 'The Ghost of Nick Drake', the first single taken from the album is available now.
He has played with Belle and Sebastian, Idlewild, The Vaselines and in May 2011 supported Edwyn Collins at Perth Theatre. He's played at T in the park, toured the UK as support for Sam Brown and worked with her on his album 'Smile at who you need to' He is also an exhibiting artist.
The genres he writes in range from rock, acoustic, electro and classical piano.
His new album 'Human life' is an acoustic folk and due to recent health struggles is a more serious affair which has drawn on local musicians contributions including cello, violin, accordian, double bass, flute, and a full live choir. |
